Three years ago, my oldest son bought me a "Buddy Christ" figure as featured in the movie "Dogma". As a student of such if you haven't seen Dogma you need to.
Dude, you kidding? That was a Religious Studies Club staple. I also have a Buddy Christ. I'm thinking about starting to build a collection of irreverent Jesus figures now.
One of my dirty little secrets is that I have a collection of thrift store gods, including Jesus figures. I've got one Jesus figure about the size of GI Joe that speaks bible stuff when you pull his string. You would be susprized how many gods, saints, etc. are abandoned at thrift stores across the nation. You have inspired me. I may blog on this.
Nontheist, mixed-asian christian-other seminarian energetically studying christian origins, Asian and Pacific Islander American (APA) hermeneutics and postcolonial/feminist/queer theologies. Prefers goats to sheep.
